Are you confident enough to do it yourself?
-Go to a hardware store and purchase a diamond core drill bit (Home Depot sells Ridgid bits $ 10 – $ 30 depending on size) Use plenty of water and keep the drill perpendicular to the table top.

If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, call several granite counter top shops and get quotes for the job. They will need to send someone out, unless the table is small and light enough for you to take it their shop.

Call around to a couple of shops. See if you can get them to guarantee the work (replace the table top if they damage it).

Question by Leslies quest: Anyone know how much a nickel plated, entree table with marble top? $?
I have inherited a entree way table, or maybe you could call it a sideboard?? Not sure. It is very eligant. It is about 40″ H X 36″W X about a foot deep. It is just a four legged frame made of (I suppose steel or iron), but is beautifully plated completely with nickel. (It shines like polished chrome)…all the legs have ornate, decorative designs, (which lead into the “knee” of the legs), which then shape themselves into some kind of “tribal warrior head” or as I call them, “little tiki dudes”!! Then there is a beautiful carved piece of marble slab that is curved from both sides to meet in the middle at the largest arc. It is made to rest against the wall, (as it has no finish to back). I have had many people comment on how unique and elaborate this piece is. Now if only I had some idea of where its origin is from or how much value it may have? I received it from my Grandmother, whom is now deceased. I would just like to gain some knowledge of the piece. ???Answers?

The first one is very sleek, but the nice wooden legs keep it from looking cold.. The second looks busy.

You definitely can put a tablecloth on a stone-top table. Normally you’d use place mats because they’re more casual, but sometimes you want a dressier look, or you want a bigger splash of color. You can also put plates right on the bare tabletop for the most casual setting.

If you’re using candles on the table, a light-colored cloth can reflect light from the candles. It’s a pretty effect.
